Everyones is sacred and unique in its own way. There is no right or wrong however you choose to create your space; big or small, colourful or not, it is your space to work magic and your space to connect with the gods. Mine is basic; I wanted to create a reminder of my belief every day and that it is easily available if making magic is something I want to do.
I am currently in the process of moving which is why I have decided to share my sacred space with you on here. I do believe that an Altar is a private space, so as I will be creating a new one which I will keep to myself. I haven’t yet figured out how this will be because I will be sharing my space with someone who does not follow the same path.
My Altar is basic. I wanted to create a reminder of my belief for every day but also a space with easy access where I can add extra when completing magic. I would say my style is clean but feminine, and I wanted my alter to blend in with my room.
So my base is an Abalone shell on top sits my birch pentagram, homemade sage stick, a dried pressed rose and a small quartz point. This was a permanent feature in my personal space. When I work magic I will add items such as candles, herbs, stones and incense. I love the simplicity of it and how much grander it because when I need it too. Everything is personal to me and has some form of connection. It is also accessible and adaptable, in my eyes it is exactly what I needed at the time.
I am writing this post to show you that there is no right or wrong way to create an Altar. It is down to you, what feels comfortable, you may even choose not to have a permanent space at all. This may be the path I chose for the future.
We will see.
